Joanie Laib, a local San Diego basket maker, is returning this spring with a new collection of Nantucket baskets. On March 20, 2012, she will be demonstrating the craft and discussing the history of this American tradition, one she learned from her mother. Over the last several years Joanie has developed her own designs and in 2010 she won Best of Division for Decorative Arts at the San Diego County Fair. Her baskets are as beautiful as they are functional, each handcrafted from select hardwoods, natural reeds, and assorted findings. They will be reasonably priced for this special event, starting at just $35.
