Student works from Mingei International's 2010-2011 ART OF THE PEOPLE - School Outreach Program

With the generous support of the Akaloa Resource Foundation, Mingei International annually partners with four local elementary schools to offer weekly hands-on art classes targeted to grade level curriculum and based on the Museum’s exhibitions and collection for all third grade students. VIVAN LOS NIÑOS (a name chosen by the students) celebrates artwork created by students at Porter Elementary and Linda Vista Elementary as part of this program, and features calaveras, masks, decorated eggs, paper mosaics, yarn paintings and hand-made paper.
