Volunteer
Experience the many rewards of being part of Mingei International Museum. Support Museum programs and activities by donating your time and talents as a volunteer. Through membership in the Museum's Volunteer Council, participants enjoy enrichment meetings with guest speakers and opportunities to meet other volunteers from a variety of backgrounds and cultural experiences.

Volunteer opportunities at Mingei International Museum include:
ADMISSIONS AIDES & GREETERS
Volunteers welcome guests, process fees, encourage membership and act as Museum ambassadors.
RESIDENTS FREE TUESDAY AIDES & GREETERS
Volunteers check IDs at the Museum entrance, greet guests and staff the Membership Table on the 3rd Tuesday of each month.
COMMUNITY SUNDAYS
Volunteers greet and assist guests participating in Community Sunday and the Discover Mingei! Treasure Hunt on the last Sunday of each month.
FRANCES HAMILTON WHITE ART REFERENCE LIBRARY
Volunteers support library staff. Hands-on training is provided. Library experience is helpful.
SPECIAL EVENTS
Volunteers assist in a variety of ways at Museum exhibition opening receptions and exhibition-related programs, Early Evening events and Diwali – The Indian Festival of Lights.
THE COLLECTORS' GALLERY
Volunteers support the sales staff and enhance the Museum store environment. Retail experience is helpful; hands-on training is provided.
MAILING & OFFICE ASSISTANCE
Volunteers help with membership mailings and other special projects.
THE DOCENT COUNCIL
Docents are trained guides and educators, offering complimentary tours to visitors, providing a general introduction to the collection and interpreting current exhibitions. Docents also offer a variety of Museum and classroom-based programs to students of all ages. A nine-month program is offered annually for docents in training.
INTERNSHIPS are offered on a case-by-case basis through the Education Department and are coordinated with the potential intern’s school, college or university.
